Groveton's Mentor Program

Groveton's Mentor Program

Mentoring is an increasingly popular way of providing guidance and support to young people in need. Recent years have seen youth mentoring expand from a relatively small youth intervention to a cornerstone youth service that is being implemented all over.

At Groveton, we believe that all children benefit from having many positive adult role models in their lives, and that having strong relationships at school leads to increased academic success, better attendance, and better problem solving skills. For this reason, we created Groveton MentorWorks. This program pairs students with social, behavioral and/or academic needs with a Groveton staff member who volunteers to be an extra source of support and encouragement. Students and mentors meet during the school day for a total of about 30 minutes per week. This may be during lunch, or check-ins at the beginning or end of the day.
