Fresh Fruits and Veggies Program (FFVP)
Groveton is excited to participate in the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP). This is a federally assisted program providing free fresh fruits and vegetables to children at elementary schools during the school day. The goal of the FFVP is to introduce children to fresh fruits and vegetables, to include new and different varieties, and to increase overall acceptance and consumption of fresh, unprocessed produce among children. Week 1 had our students trying different varieties of apples; Rome, Blue Ridge Crisp, and Fuji. Week 2 brought vegetables into the classroom from local farms. Students had green beans from Arcnlynn Farm in Charlotte Courthouse, Virginia, mini peppers from Eagle Road Farms in Quarryville, Pennsylvania, and French breakfast radishes from Goldman Farm in Cullen, Virginia. We are so proud of our Tigers for trying these new vegetables!
