Language Arts End of Year SMARTR Outcomes

By June 2019 all students will grow at least 1 band in writing within Usage and Mechanics as measured by the Groveton Elementary Writing Rubrics (adapted from the Fairfax County Public Schools Writing Rubrics)

By June 2019, 90% of all students will achieve a passing score on the 2019 English SOL

Strategy

Students will continue to develop as critical readers by being able to think, communicate and connect what they are reading to other literacy activities and life experiences. Students will participate in small group, targeted instruction. Students will engage in authentic and meaningful independent literacy activities (ex: written or visual reading responses, conversations, partnerships) daily as part of the Reading/Writing Workshop model.

 

Math End of Year SMARTR Outcome

By the end of the 2018-19 school year, all students will show growth in their conceptual understanding of mathematics through student discourse.

By the end of the 2018-19 school year, 90% of students in grades 3-6 will score pass or pass advanced on the spring 2019 SOL assessment.

Science End of Year SMARTR Outcome

By the end of the 2018-19 school year, at least 90% of the students will achieve pass or pass advanced as measured on the Science SOL. By the end of the 2018-19 school year, all students will show growth in the area of scientific investigation through meaningful learning experiences.

Strategy 

By engaging in authentic scientific investigation tasks and learning experiences, students will develop inquiry-based skills and gain new understandings of scientific concepts.

 

Wellness End of Year SMARTR Outcome

Through the use of Wellness practices there will be a reduction of at least 20% in office referrals by the end of the 2018-19 school year.

Strategy 

Students will employ wellness techniques such as Mindfulness, Yoga, and other healthy lifestyle options to help them self regulate behaviors.
